What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s a commitment to our farm for a season, by purchasing a “share” of the season’s crops up front. You’ll receive a weekly box of fresh produce for the duration of the season, like a subscription.

 
 
 
 

Your commitment gives us the security of knowing our vegetables have a home, and you get to secure a weekly supply of the freshest vegetables around. It’s a great way to support local agriculture and build connections with growers and other CSA members!

For the 18 week season, this works out to $35/week and you will receive more than $35 worth of veggies each week. (The beginning of the season may be a little lighter, but we’ll make up for it with the abundance of mid-season!)

Farmer’s Choice Veggies

The contents of the box will change throughout the season. You can expect a mix of favourites and staples (i.e. lots of salad greens!) as well as some more interesting veggies to experiment with in the kitchen.

 Why join a CSA?

Connect with your Community

 

Pick up your box of veggies every Tuesday at the farm and connect with fellow CSA members. Join us for member events throughout the summer and help us create a vibrant food community. The cost of your share also allows us to donate shares to those who otherwise couldn’t access our produce on a regular basis.

Support your growers

 

Your commitment to our farm for the season allows us to share with you both the risk and the bounty of farming. By purchasing a share up front, you give us the security to pay for the seeds, supplies, labour and equipment needed to keep the farm running.

Nourish body and soil

 

We aim to grow nutritious food that is good for the body and the soil. We use regenerative practices such as low-till and cover cropping, and we never ever use pesticides, GMOs or synthetic fertilizers. We are proudly non-certified organic and working towards Certified Naturally Grown certification.

Here are some other things to consider to help you decide whether we are the right CSA for you:

Do you love veggies and feel confident cooking with all different kinds? Our CSA box will include an assortment of veggies based on what’s new, fresh and abundant that week. We have planned for lots of diversity in our crop plan, and our CSA members will get priority pick of the week’s harvest.

This is our first year doing a CSA and we are looking for members who will offer understanding and feedback as we inevitably make mistakes throughout the growing season. If you choose to give us your trust and commitment this season, we promise to give you our absolute best. We hope you’ll laugh along with us and see it as an exciting way to be part of our learning journey.

We think high quality food should be accessible to everyone. We have 3 shares available free of charge to families or individuals in need. Part of the cost of your share contributes to these donated shares. If you know of someone who could benefit from this, please nominate them by emailing us their name and email address.

Support our goal of reducing single-use plastics. You’ll receive your greens in re-usable containers instead of plastic bags!

There will be optional add-on subscriptions for eggs, herbs and more! You can also add items from our store to your box - need an extra bunch of kale or a pack of burgers? You can purchase them at a discount from our store when you pick up your CSA.
